As many of you will know, back in 2007 (February 18th, to be precise) I took a nasty spill down a flight of stairs and fractured my
C5 vertebra which houses the nerves and junctions associated with shoulder, arm and wrist movement. I was instructed to no longer take part in contact sports and to avoid any activity that would cause any sudden acceleration or deceleration (presumably pogo sticking to work would be right out!).
Having been quite active prior to my injury, playing football twice a week and cycling to work regularly, I have grown increasingly frustrated with my ever increasing waistline. Therefore, I decided that I would start cycling to work again which is about 20 miles a day (10 each way) having done no cardiovascular preparation or really any exercise at all in the last 5 years.
This is the machine that will either kill me or turn me back into a vision of athleticism
and I'm really excited about doing this and looking forward to feeling active again.
Wish me luck, I collect it on Sunday so I should be in cardiac arrest by Monday morning!
