My recent weird playlist is a conglomerate of Springsteen songs -- those performed by The Boss as well as covers from other artists.  Some of the more esoteric picks for covers:

"For You," by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.
"Spirit in the Night," again, Manfred Mann's.
"Because the Night."  10,000 Maniacs here.
"Brilliant Disguise."  I love Bruce's version, but also really like Elvis Costello's.
"Fire" by the Pointer Sisters.
"Blinded by the Light."  Yes, of course, Manfred Mann's Earth Band again. 

Yes, youngsters, these are all actually Springsteen songs.    It's sacrilege, but I do admit that I like Manfred Mann's versions of "Blinded by the Light" and "For You" better than the originals.
