Any Car mechanics here?

Just wondering if anyone had a good idea why my 95 Mustang Gt, with a rebuilt cobra 5.0 engine is going threw distributors like crazy. 3 in the past 3 weeks. The mechanics have no clue why. Any ideas???

Does it just quit or run rough? Is there oil in the distributor? What code comes up? Replacing the whole distributor or just parts? Stock or jobber?

it could be a crack in the flagam housing or maybe you finnegan pin is out of tolerance

A few answers I have are:

- Bearing failure
- Short with something touchin in the Cap/Rotator

Well Goose most of the time if just wont start. There is no spark coming from the plugs. Turned out it was the distributor it was replaced, a week later car wouldn't start. Again no spark. Distributor was out. Well it died on me yesterday while I was driving. Again I couldn't get a spark. I noticed the car was running hot, thou the gauge didn't say it was over heating. There is no oil in it, and im not sure what code comes up, I would have to talk to the mechanics working on it. I have replaced the cap, ignition coil, plug wires. All that is working fine.. Just trying to get some idea's so I can ask the guys at the shop if they thought of it. I need the car back on the road so I can finish making her faster!!!

Wolfee Thanks not sure about the bearing failure, I don't think there is a short..But what do  I know..lol

sounds like an electrical surge, but it could be your timing sequence, but then again it could be the earths shifting magnetic fields.......

I could give you 4 reasons why you are having problems (F-O-R and D), but I won't do that.  What I would suggest is that you go to some Mustang forums and search them...or ask and I guarantee that you will get more educated info and suggestions there than at any mechanic or dealership in most cases.  Could be a simple problem...plus the bonus is that you get to communicate with guys (and girls) that share your Mustang passion.  BTW: My brother is a huge mustang fan that just bought a 1999 Cobra and got rid of his 1995 Mustang GT less than a year ago.  I think the 99 Cobra is his 6th Mustang.  He is all over these forums.  I'm on some Challenger forums.

haha thanks lead, I will check those sites out. I always told myself that I would never own a Mustang because everyone has one. But I fell in love with this one awhile back. I think its because it had the 5.0 cobra engine in it.......

Well car is back up, they tried a different brand this time so we will see.
