History of MFF
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:17:38 am »
<<{MFF}>> Turns 5

I’ve been asked several times about the history of this clan and why and when it was formed.

The clan was formed when 3 guys decided they wanted to try and make a clan for just having fun, a social gathering place for people from different nationalities, skill levels and backgrounds could have fun and play.  The 3 founding members consisted of 2 members of the clan OOA that later became XOA and myself.  We played mainly Omaha and after playing awhile together I applied to XOA and was rejected.  The other 2 founding members where JohnnyBeCare and Callahan.  Johnny was from the Netherlands and Callahan lived in Sweden.  The XOA clan had recently started a rifle only freeze tag server and we liked it so we decided that our first server would be that.  After many hours of trying new mods and then making our own rifle mod we finally officially started the clan with about 10 members on August 28, 2004.  Below you will see a copy of the actual e-mail telling the members that’s it official.

><<MFF>>clan is now in business, so put yor tags on and visit our new
>server. We will be modding the server, and for right now it is a
>stock all weapons server. At least until i get up with Callahan. He
>will be handling the server mods. If you have any ideas let us know.

The clan grew rapidly and I credit the rapid growth of this clan because of the way we treated both clan and non-clan members on our servers.  One of my biggest complaints when playing on other clans servers was they way I was treated as compared to the members of the clan,  If  I did something I was yelled at for it but the clan members did it and it was fine.  So we decided to form what we were calling a family friendly clan where we had rules about language, rudeness, and the subject matter on TS, the forums and in game was to remain suitable for children.

Many times over the years clan members have argued with me about the family friendly nature of our clan and we should lighten up some of the rules.  Yes, we’ve lost many good members over the years because they wanted to cuss on TS or post pictures in the gallery that I didn’t think were appropriate.  We’ve lost some members that affected me deeply when they left but I refused to give in on the family friendly nature of this clan.  It is one of the reasons that this clan has been so successful.  That and the wonderful people both past and present who have worked tirelessly to keep this gaming community alive.  Because this so called clan is much more than a clan, it truly is a family from all walks of life, where people can get together and share the common bond of gaming with good natured comrodiry.  Where members can share the grief of losing a loved one,  where they can come and get a lift as they struggle with cancer,  where for once in their life they can feel that they belong and aren’t an outsider,  where we share in the joy of  dreams fulfilled and the agony and tears of dreams lost, where we truly feel loved and wanted,  where a member will step up and ask that a young member be given a second chance and they will personally take responsibility  for that member,   where a member can feel the dark veil of depression fade away and happiness return to their life.  Each and every person that wears the tags of this clan is special in their own way and each and every person brings something awesome to this clan.

Many of you know that I have taken a step back in the last year and turned the clan over to the GS.  Running the clan as the clan leader and doing the majority of the work for the early years finally lead to a state of burnout that made me just walk away for awhile.  The only reason this clan exists today is because of the GS, CO’s,  SL’s,  RO, DI,  and every other person that stepped up to do their part.  For this I must give each and every member of this clan a big THANK YOU, thank you so much for keeping my dream alive.

As we start the 6th year of this clan I can only ask that you guys believe that we can rise above the current problems with the clan and work with me to help rebuild what is one of the premier clans.   If you need anything please don't hesitate to e-mail me at mffbigredone@yahoo.com and I hope to see everyone on the server and lets celebrate 5 awesome years.

Bigred! It's been a while! I remember when this clan started up. I was a regular on the XOA server but noticed the admins were always on a power trip. When MFF started up I joined a few weeks later and they had so many new applicants. Everyone seemed to have a great time on the servers and they were always populated. I made some good friends here and when Antirose told me the servers were still up, I dragged out my copy of MOH and was pleasantly surprised to see it still running!
5 years is a long time and for a clan to survive that long it takes more than just a passing interest and of course a good game! Ck seems to be doing an amazing job and I can see that its only because of the community this game is still being played after 10 years. I do not see COD6 still being playing in 2020 thats for sure.
Here's to another 5!
