Its been a long, long, long time.
« on: October 12, 2015, 03:11:56 pm »
Hello everyone. Its been a long while since I've even thought about everyone here at MFF. I had to create a new account because i couldnt remember the stuff to my actual account. I'm ShackAttack. before that i was Lil_Shackdadd. I remember waking up early to get on mohaa and teamspeak to talk to papa in the moring. I remember my dad and i fighting over who got to play on the computer. It's been a long road. I haven't really talked to anyone besides my girlfriend about what has happened in the last year or so. but we'll get to that later.
I've finally turned 18 about 8 months ago. that means i would finally be a full member of MFF instead of a jr. not sure if thats still a thing anymore. I have a girlfriend who i've been with for just over a year now. Her and i own our own trailer with two dogs. Tiberius and Xerxes. Ti is a mastiff lab mix and xerk is boxer lab mix. They sure are a handful but they keep us out the baby boat. I've graduated highschool and i've started going to college. I supposed that means everything is going great in my part of the world.

What i really came here to talk is my dad. Heck. I'm not sure if anyone still remembers us. I'm not sure if anyone is still around from when we played. My dad was Shackdadd. He was in the OF squad. About 4 or 5 years ago my dad went through his midlife crisis. Every guy does i guess. he was 45 or 46. He left my step-mom who dies shortly after. He started dating a 35 year old woman. way to go dad. Thats great for you. For me, it was too weird. It was weird enough that i didnt want to go over because this woman was now over all the time. He wasnt my old pops any more. He was coming to me asking my opinion on why his girlfriend would be upset and what he should do to fix it. Regretfully i quit going over to his house everyother weekend. I regret that decision so much because about this time last year my dad had his first stroke. at the ripe age of 51. His work called me to make sure he went to the doctor because his 30 year old girlfriend picked him up from work and decided to go shopping instead of taking him to the doctor like work suggested. I went to the doctor with my dad and everything came back pointing to a stroke so we got him on the medicine needed and that was that. its now thanksgiving and dads even driving. Everything is going great. a few days after thanksgiving he had another stroke. that one put him in the hospital. He was down but not out. He fought everyday. he still wanted to be independant and this stroke wasnt going to take that away from him, but the next one did. that one hurt the most. is was the 2nd week of december. they opened his artery and cleaned it out. It didnt help. he had another stroke a couple days before christmas. he passed away january 2nd.

this is the first place ive been able to tell the story. just the parts i want to tell. the parts that hurt the most. I watched my dad go from a man able to live his own life to a man on a machine. I skipped a lot of details but its too much for me to type right now. i've been crying since i found the site. ive been each and everyone of you since i left. I hope lifes been good and thank you for letting me say what i need to. I need to start feeling whole again.

Hello Lil_shack,

I remember playing with you and your father! I am very sorry for your loss. I also have a lot of memories playing with my own father, Schmotts. I can only imagine how it must be to come back here and relive old times.

Schmotts was very attached to his OF squad. I can freely admit now that they were the best group in MFF.

I hope you have even half as many good memories of your time here as I do. This is a very special place.

Hey Lil_Shack,

I'm really sorry for your loss -- your dad was a good guy and a really fun person to have in MFF.  I think Shack would be pretty proud of you for the things you described in here; it sounds like you're moving your life along in a really positive way.  It sucks that things were sour between you guys for that last year or two, but it does sound like you were there for him when things got bad in the end, and that probably meant the world to him.  I hope it helped you guys reconcile a bit, and like Rabbit said, ultimately helps you focus on all the good memories.

I know Dad would have loved a mohaa reunion. I'm glad i was there for him in the end but upset at the missed opportunities i had to spend time with him. Young and naive me thought ," I'm only 16, I have until im like 50. Dad's gonna be around awhile." I wish i would have known. I Have pictures of dad and i when we went to the daytona 500 a few years back. It was the year that Dale Jr won.  I know them old farts were the best around here. real nice guys and even better dads

Really sorry to hear about your loss, Shack. I haven't played much with you or your dad, but it seems like you guys had a great connection. My dad also played this game with me as well, which was something that we had in common.

I am the same age as you. I will be turning 18 this November. But, I can honestly say, It is very strong of you to be able to live your life as greatly as you are. You are clearly someone who is positive and strong. That's something I admire.

I hope we can have a MFF Reunion. It would be awesome to play with you all once more.

Hello Lil Shack.  I just saw your post by chance, as I'm not around much anymore, myself.  I am so sorry to hear about your Dad.  I very much enjoyed playing MOHAA with him.  He was one of, if not, the best player if the {OF} at that time.  It does sound as though you've taken a positive path and I only wish you the very best in the future.
