A Guide to Elgbot, The Score Announcer!
« on: April 08, 2010, 05:30:39 pm »
It has come to my attention that many do not know how to use Elgbot; and many more do not even know what it is!

Elgbot is a program which announces your kills. It does not announce every kill, that would be just weird – only the special ones. For example, if you got a headshot it would say “Headshot”, and tell the server you got a headshot – AND the amount of headshots you currently have!

Elgbot keeps track of headshots gained, bashes, Streaks of 5, and Double / Triple kills.

Double kill / Multi kill / Ultra kill / MONSTER kill are obtained by getting 2-5 kills within 4 seconds. (Monster kill sounds AWESOME)

Killing Spree / Rampage / Dominating / Unstoppable / Godlike / and Holy!!! are obtained by getting increments of 5 kills without dieing. Killing spree 5, Rampage 10 and so on. Note: A death is a DEATH, not a new round or map, meaning you can kill everyone one round - and the score continues to the next!

Take a look at these! See if you’re good enough to get the last one!

Now I’ve gone off topic a bit hehe. I just want to thank Steelspine for helping me make those pics… As you can see, he went splat quite a few times!

NOW! You need to know how to get Elgbot to work. Easy peasy, just follow this guide.

First off, it helps if you have Elgbot :) -={ Download Link! }=-

Stage one complete! Next you need to extract the files within that zip file.

Doesn't matter where you put the EXE file, but two .PK3 files need to be placed in your main folder.
This file:

Right! That’s stage two complete!

Next we need to run the EXE file, and install Elgbot!

Stage 3 Complete! :D

Now it’s time to setup Elgbot, to get it to work just the way you want!

This, is Elgbot! (Yours wont look like this, at least not yet :D)

Pretty boring looking program huh? Well it works, and that’s all that counts!

Now, don’t ask me why the download link is Elgboy, the server files Elgbot and the program Elgabot, because I honestly don’t know. I think the maker was a bit “off” :D

Anyway, to configure Elgbot… First of all, change Reset Hokey to Control + S and Hotkey to Control + A, and then hit Save for each of them.

If your wondering why Ctrl+S/A, it’s because Alt and Shift are reversed, and it gets kinda confusing sometimes. You can use letters or numbers other than S and A, but I recommended you keep Ctrl.

Set the Game Menu to F10, for use later on – you will most likely need to use this.

Next, setup your name.

Enter your FULL name into the name box, and hit save.

Now, this is important. So listen up!
You cannot change your name in game when Elgbot is active. It will reset your name to what ever is entered in Elgbot.

Next step! Click on Extra Options!

Check the box “Try and automatically get name from game”. Hit Apply and Ok.

And now! The FINAL STEP!!! Well of setting Elgbot up anyway hehe.
This is probably the most fun part of setting it up :D

Click on, Announce!

Enter your customised messages! Note: BLAMO is part of the Bear Foundation, Anyone caught using it will be severely punished.

The number of times you have got that particular thing, EG Headshots, will appear the end of the message ~ so add a hash to something to show a number.

Just hit apply once you’ve finished entering your messages.

All done! Just click on Go! and your set! (Other options explained below.)

Nowww! Time to get on MOHAA!!

Once you’re in game, hit F10!

This menu should appear, showing your statistics and other useful data.

Hit Control + S and this should appear at the top left corner

That’s it! Done! Elgbot is now on, and should work nicely. A good way to test is to kill yourself with a nade ~ Elgbot should say “Humiliation!”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for the other stuff, and trouble shooting.

- Announce Killing Sprees
Announce your custom message when you get a special kill.

- Displays
Show the messages (The ones in the pictures above) when you get a special kill.

- Launch selected game upon go
Launch MOHAA when you hit go.

- Save to logfile
Each time you use Elgbot, you score is saved in a word document, available from clicking View Log.

- Statistics
Show your statistics, and if you save to log file it adds up over time!

NOW!!! Important stuff!!!

When you close Elgbot, after using it on MOHAA for a while, it comes up with “It appears you have finished playing”. Hit ok on that box, and Go again. It resets each time you close MOHAA so you need to hit go again. Your scores are still saved.

“RegisterHotKey Failed. Please try a different hotkey combination.”

Oh noes!

Don’t worry; this happens when you hit Go on Elgbot twice. Elgbot is still active.

-  “I get the Elgbot Menu, but I can't activate it!”

Make sure you hit Go before you started MOHAA!

That’s about all I can think of for the time being, if I missed anything out please mention it.

Just remember this one important thing.

If you want to change your name, CHANGE IT IN ELGBOT! Your name will reset to what ever is entered in Elgbot when you activate it.

That is all.
