<<{MFF}>> Mohaa Server Mods Tutorial

Here is an in-depth look at the various mods and rules on the <<{MFF}>> Mohaa server. We play rifles only with MEFY's Freeze-tag and Demolition, and MFF's own King of the Hill mod. Sometimes we mix it up with Capture the Flag.

V2 Scrim Terminology

Doors are abbreviated T for top and B for bottom, numbered from east to west then north. Freeze-tag frozen locations are shown in brackets. These locations are commonly referred to on Teamspeak or in in-game chat. So the doors are T1, T2, T3, T4, B1, B2, B3, B4. If your screen is not wide enough scroll the images to the right to see them in full.





V2 Freeze-tag Locations

Freeze-tag locations were added to V2 in July 2006 by <<{MFF}>>cK using MEFY's BSP compiler script. Subsequently a beta version of the compiled script was stolen and published to a popular modding forum, now many servers use this beta.

Here you can see a partial compiler output showing a mini-map carved into the complex regions which define the locations.

Anti-glitch mod

The Bridge Anti-Spawnkilling

On The Bridge when someone is spawnkilled, 2 people are automatically melted by the Spawnpunisher mod.

Also access is blocked to the top floor of the hotel looking out to allied spawn to prevent the Axis from spawn-killing. Mod by <<{MFF}>>cK.



The allies are not allowed near axis spawn on The Bridge. The Spawnpunisher mod written by <<{MFF}>>cK will kill you with lightning if you go near and you will get a -1 kill. When you are melted you will smoke and glow for a few minutes as punishment so everyone knows who you are.

Black Window and Mirror Anti-Exploit

On Southern France, Destroyed Village, Algiers, Remagen and Crossroads you cannot shoot through mirrors or black windows. Mod by EFC chickE.

Freeze-tag Animation

When a player is melted the "popsicles" (coloured bars) fade out and there is a "beam out" flash of light animation and sound. Mod by <<{MFF}>>cK.

Melting and Bomb Rewards, Melting Laser Visibility

A player who melts a teammate scores a point. When more than one person is melting the same target, only the last one to initiate melting scores a point. This is to encourage multiple people melting at a time because it cumulatively speeds up the melt. This is how MEFY wrote the Freeze-tag mod.

Team melts are counted and show up on the hud at the top right.

Players who set or defuse a bomb also score a point.

When melting from a distance, melting lasers are initially invisible but fade in to become visible the longer you hold down USE(e). The laser also becomes visible quicker the further away you are from your target, which eventually gives away your position. To overcome this, let go of USE(e) between melting targets and move closer to the person you are trying to melt. Fading laser mod by <<{MFF}>>cK.

King-of-the-Hill Gametype

King-of-the-Hill is a new gametype for Algiers and Remagen written by <<{MFF}>>cK exclusively for <<{MFF}>>. Your team must find and hold the hill for 45 seconds to win.

There are other KOH mods for Mohaa but this one was written independently in 2007 and is not based on anyone else's code. It has special features:
  • HUD at the bottom left displays the time remaining and number of defenders and attackers currently on the hill. Icon at the left and colour of the text indicates hill ownership.
  • Full respawn for fast-paced action.
  • Morse-code sound when the hill location is "discovered".
  • Alarm klaxon sounds when a hill is "captured" (attacker steps onto hill while there are defenders present, then all defenders are killed, regardless of who killed them).
  • Creaking sound to notify you when additional defenders step onto the hill.
  • Timer is paused while an enemy is on the hill.
  • Hill location is randomized each round.
  • Players announce when they "capture" or "secure" a hill. A hill is captured when an attacker "charges" or steps onto the hill while there are defenders present, then all defenders are killed (regardless of who killed them). A hill is secured when someone steps onto an unoccupied hill. (In the future a player may score a point when capturing a hill but this has not been implemented yet).

The hill glows to denote its location and bounds. Make sure your graphics are set to high and Real Dynamic Lighting is turned on in Advanced options to see the hill properly.



The hill glows blue when occupied the allies.



The hill glows red when occupied by the axis.

Dynamic Runspeed Mod

Runspeed changes depending on how many people are playing. When there are 20 or more people, runspeed is normal. Running gets progressively faster every time someone leaves the server. When there is only one person, the faster runspeed from Spearhead is used.

This means you spend less time searching for enemies on the map when there are fewer people playing. The effect is subtle but you noticeably encounter enemies more often proportional to the number of players. Mod by <<{MFF}>>cK.

Dynamic Spawn Locations, The Hunt, The Bridge

On The Hunt the Allies usually spawn in the village instead of at the back of the dirt road. This makes the map more balanced by moving gameplay towards the center of the map, and prevents the axis from spawnkilling allies as they emerge from the road. Written by <<{MFF}>>cK.

On The Bridge, once the axis get close enough to the bridge the axis spawn points change to various locations on the map instead of just at the truck. Written by <<{MFF}>>HeavenBound.

Stalingrad alternates between Freeze-tag and Demolition every other round.

Algiers alternates between Freeze-tag and King-of-the-Hill every other round.

Destroyed Village alternates between Freeze-tag and Freeze-tag-Demolition every other round.

Last Man Standing and No Respawn

When there is only one player left alive and the game is Freeze-tag, you will hear thunder and a message will be displayed at the bottom centre of the screen to alert you. Mod by <<{MFF}>>cK.



When there are only 30 seconds left before No Respawn you will hear a soldier scream "30 seconds!" Thunder will play when No Respawn takes effect. Mod by <<{MFF}>>cK.

NEW March 11, 2014 Mods by <<{MFF}>>cK.

Stalingrad Demolition bomb locations now include the same abbreviations used in Freeze-tag.



The current game type for example "Full Respawn Demolition" is now shown in full instead of just Full Respawn, Freeze tag or No respawn.

Taunt Sounds Give Away Your Teammate's Position

When you taunt you give away your position to the enemy.

In Freeze-tag you are still able to taunt while frozen. Note that the sound comes from whomever you are speccing, so taunt wisely, especially when there is only one person left. When you are speccing a teammate who is alive and you taunt, you are giving away their position!

The <<{MFF}>> GS and I have the ability to play certain quirky sounds via rcon through a mod I wrote called The Soundmeister. Those sounds do not give anyone's position away, they are broadcast from a random location on the map loud enough for everyone to hear.
